In Allendale off Route 17 in New Jersey is Rohslers Garden Center. This is a beautifully laid out store, and farm. Rohslers offers Koi Gardens and all the supplies information that go along with Koi gardening. The staff can walk you through setting up a pond or dealing with any problems that come up. They will teach you all about the different Koi and feeding and caring for them. If you are a horse afficiando they have a full time stable that offers heated tack rooms, box stalls, two rings and is run by a very well educated horsewoman ,Haley Rooney.
When you enter there are several areas to choose from for shopping. Along the front of the building are seasonal gifts, samples of mulch, great plants and planters. The mulch is displayed in bins so that you can see anad feel the different varieties. There is a tool area to your left with all sorts of wonderful gardening tools and supplies, many are Smith and Hawken brand, top of the line. Rohslers carries a large selection of tools, garden furniture and decorative items made by this company. You can purchase gorgeous outdoor furniture, chimineas, gates and fencing, garden statuary, arches, containers in every size and more.
The room in the center holds adorable ornaments right now but in the Spring there is a great selection of bulbs here. Towards the end of the blub planting season you can pick up some real bargains. To the right is a gift and flower area. This area is run by Robin. She will do your wedding flowers or any flowers for any occasion. She is very talented. She can help you with gift flowers from 1-800 Flowers or Teleflora.engagement. She can have her staff put together incredible flower arrangement or plant pieces. I've received beautiful herb gardens in a basket from this part of the store. This is also a large gift area with charming bric a brac, seasonal items, door bells and plaques for your house, garden hooks, teacup birdfeeders and more.
Towards the rear of the store are vast amounts of house plants, birdbaths, out door statuary and decorative items. Depending on the season this area changes. In the fall Rohslers has fabulous Halloween items. If you walk out this side door you will be at the Koi garden. The staff is very knowledgeable and they have everything you need to set up a Koi Pond. Out here you will find seperate are for larger garden furniture, all quite beautiful.
In the front of the Garden Center when you drive in the semi circular driveway you will see wonderful arbors, huge plants, tons of perennials, herbals and seasonal plants, shrubs, small trees, stepping stones, more statuary and fountains. In the Fall this becomes a big ghost and goblin area with cut out frames for taking scary pictures, hay mazes and other spooky stuff. Their Halloween Haunted house is truly frightening. My granddaughter and I went in, walking at a normal pace at first and by the time we were partly into it we were running. This is not for very young children. For them their are fun hay rides Saturdays and Sundays in the Fall.
On the right side outside there are larger plants, rose bushes, special varieties of trees. They offer landscaping.
This place is so popular that on week ends in season they have hire special staff to help over see parking
They offer classes in gardening and book signings. These are fun and informative and free.
For any homeowner or anyone who needs a a gift this is another hot spot in the North Jersey area. Great for gifts, great for gardeners and great for fun.
